Time to shake up the Phillies: Here’s How By Finding the Fountain Of Youth In Allentown

The Phillies need a quick injection of youth. They currently have the oldest 25 man roster in baseball.   No, they won’t find the Fountain of Youth by hiring a long lost relative of Ponce de Leon or moving their farm team to St. Augustine Fl..  But it does exist in Allentown Pennsylvania on the roster of the Phillies AAA, Lehigh Valley IronPigs farm team.

Watched the IronPigs game yesterday on MLB and saw Cody Overbeck mash a double and triple. Bring him up, not old man Luna who has been released by six other major league organizations.

Watched Derrick Mitchell hit a change up from a lefty over the left field wall for a two run homer and next time up, as the announcer said, “muscle” a two run, rbi, single to left. Mitch would be great to play any of the three outfield positions. That might help focus Victorino and Pence and give Pierre regular rest.

Watched Tyler Cloyd pitch seven inning of one run, three hit ball to cool the hottest team in the IL for the win.  Move Kendrick. Still say Kyle can start effectively for someone in a park with wider alleys and deeper fences.

All of these guys are 25 years old. They play hard.

They deserve to play in CBP rather than some of these washed up, injury plagued, unmotivated thirty plus and forty plus year olds now on the roster. At the very least they would not be spending their off time in the high roller rooms at the Casinos.

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show. This is what this blog is mostly all about. To read more, click here: https://baseballross.wordpress.com/2012/02/05/how-i-got-started-in-baseball/
