Shortstop J.P. Crawford and Starting Pitcher Jake Thompson Keys to Tonight’s Reading vs Bowie Game Three with the Best of Five Series Final Knotted At One Game A Piece

Right now the two best Reading players in the playoffs have been shortstop  J.P. Crawford and tonight’s starting pitcher Jake Thompson.

Congrats to Crawford for leading the Eastern League playoffs in batting average with his .444 average including a double and a homer to go along with his six walks and no strikeouts after the first five games. He has a nice .1250 OPS in the EL post season. He will certainly be an improvement over Freddy Galvis at shortstop hopefully sooner than later at CBP!

Thompson pitched a gem in beating Binghamton in the first round with his first ever professional nine-innings complete game and it was a 3-0 three hit, eight strikeout, shutout.

With the series tied at a game a piece, the best of five series moves to Bowie, Maryland for the final three games with Thompson on the mound in the crucial Game Three tonight at 6:30.  He won in Bingo. Let’s see if  Jake can be a road warrior again against the BaySox.

Unfortunately, the game is not televised but we will all be listening to Mike Ventola, the voice of the Reading Fighting Phils.  It should be a good one.

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show. This is what this blog is mostly all about. To read more, click here: https://baseballross.wordpress.com/2012/02/05/how-i-got-started-in-baseball/
