The Phillies AA and High A Score a Combined 25 Runs in Thursday’s Games Against the Yankees

It was a wild 12-6 win by the Phillies AA team against the Yankees yesterday at Carlton Field. For a summary of the four games read HERE.

The roster are not set yet with the likely AA players Dylan Cozens and Andrew Pullin still playing at the AAA level but it looks like Reading will put up some impressive numbers on the scoreboard when the season starts.

Cord Sandberg and Herlis Rodriguez played in the outfield as well but we would expect they will be reassigned to the high A Clearwater roster shortly.  Watch Sandberg, HBP HERE and Rodriguez single HERE.

It looks like the Phillies will have some power in the lineups in Reading and Clearwater to start the season.  Catcher Jorge Alfaro bounced a ground rule double over the wall and 1B, veteran Christian Marrero just missed a homer to right center as his drive bounced off the wall a foot or so from going over for the AA team.

Over at the Yankees minor league complex, the likely Clearwater Threshers High A squad hit a reported four homers in a 13-6 rout of the Yankees.  The high powered lineup  included two homers by 1B, Kyle Martin, and one each by OF, Jose Pujols and OF, Damek Tomscha.   On Wednesday, Pujols homered and Tomsha hit two doubles in an intrasquad game as both are having breakout spring training seasons .

The wet weather has moved into the Tampa Bay area for the weekend making baseball difficult. It might be the only way to cool off the hot bats of several of the Phillies minor league players.

Already, the Friday minor league games have been moved to morning intrasquad games.  We will attempt to attend the 10:00 AM Saturday morning games if they are played with many expected roster movements taking place after the games.  The minor league teams break camp early next weekend.

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show. This is what this blog is mostly all about. To read more, click here:
