I always like to look at how well  prospects play in the big games.  All Star games are a nice measure and as a whole the Phillies 20 minor league representatives to those games played well.  And they were on the winning teams in all four minor league All-Star games.

All totaled the 13 Phillies hitters in the four games went 13 for 39 for a .333 average including two homers.  And the seven pitchers pitched 5.1 shutout innings.

Rhys Hoskins always comes up big in the big game.  Last season he homered to score the only run in the only two Threshers FSL playoff games.  He homered at Citizens Bank Park in the pre-season Phillies Futures game.  On Wednesday night he scored what turned out to be the winning run on his three-run homer in the first inning of the Eastern League All-Star game.  Watch Video HERE.

Andrew Knapp hit a solo home run in the AAA All-Star game. Mitch Walding won the home run hitting contest before  the Florida State League All-Star game back in June. Read about Walding HERE, HERE and HERE.

Unfortunately, the two Phillies representatives to the Futures game last Sunday saw limited action.  Ricardo Pinto faced two batters and Dylan Cozens had one at bat playing a few late innings in right field.

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show.
