MLBPipeline Names J.P. Crawford As The Fourth Best Shortstop Prospect On Its Top Ten List

MLBPipeline has just named J.P.Crawford as the fourth best shortstop prospect on its Top Ten Shortstop Prospect list.  Read and Watch HERE.

Crawford joins fellow Phillies minor league prospects in the Pipeline’s Top Ten categories including catcher Jorge Alfaro, first baseman Rhys Hoskins and second baseman Scott Kingery.

The 22-year-old Crawford has been hurried through the Phillies farm system after being taken as its No.1 draft pick in 2013.  After reaching  AAA early last season he appeared to be coming into his own with the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs in July when he hit .300 for the month.

He trailed off in August hitting only .189. He rallied to go 5 for 12 to end the regular season in the first week of September but slashing only .244/.328/.318 for the AAA season.

Then Crawford went only 1 for 12 in the International League playoffs to end the 2016 season.

He underwent knee surgery September 16th, Read HERE.

He has been invited to the major league spring training camp.  It will be an important  2017 season for Crawford.  He has something to prove that he is indeed one of the top shortstop prospects in baseball.
