Preview of the First Phillies Game of 2017 Vs. The University of Tampa

The lineup is out for tomorrow’s Phillies first spring training game.  It’s a seven-inning scrimmage against the University of Tampa at renamed Spectrum Field.

To open the 2015 spring training season the U of T Spartans stunned the Phillies 6-2.  The Phillies went on to finish 36 games under .500 that year losing 99 games.

Last season they defeated the Spartans 8-3 but went on to finish 20 games under .500 for the 2016 season. Read HERE.  So improvement is slowly taking place but .500 still might be a bit off for the Phillies in 2017.

The Phillies starting lineup for tomorrow’s game is made up of many of the likely 2017 AAA, Lehigh Valley roster.  Read HERE to read how to watch the game.

We will be watching for the long ball.  The Phillies guys in the starting lineup above in 2016 combined to hit 163 home runs including playoffs led by Dylan Cozens who hit more homers than anyone in  minor league baseball last year.
