The Phillies Minor League Camp Finally Came To An End On Friday

The Phillies minor league players finally broke Florida camp on Friday.  No more work lists and player releases. Only the final rosters.  I think? It’s time to get this party started.

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs and the Reading Fightins have already left town for the North.  Before the Lakewood BlueClaws can leave town, they must play the Clearwater Threshers on Tuesday evening in final exhibition game at the renamed Spectrum Field.

We watched the two A ball teams play their counterparts from the Blue Jays organization on Friday on Ashburn and Schmidt Fields. Below are several of the video highlights from the two games:

1) Darick Hall.  Lakewood first base.  Hall was a highlight reel during spring training.  Even his outs were long balls. Watch his final base hit and long ball out HERE.

2) Cole Irvin. Clearwater pitcher.  Irvin finished the camp strong striking out five in a five inning, two hit shutout.  Watch two of his strikeouts HERE.

3) Jose Pujols.  Clearwater right fielder.  Look for Pujols, who led all of low A in homers last year to put up big numbers in the FSL.  Watch a base hit HERE.

4) Arquismedez Gamboa.   Lakewood SS.  Gamboa and Brito make up the next generation of Latin middle infield combinations with Daniel Brito. Watch a base hit HERE.

Sixto Sanchez

5) Sixto Sanchez.  Lakewood pitcher.  Most hyped pitcher in the minor league system after dominating the rookie Gulf Coast League last season. Watch two of his strikeouts HERE.

6) Lucas Williams. Lakewood third baseman.  Look for Lucas to have a breakout season.  Watch a base hit HERE.

7) Mauricio Llovera. Lakewood pitcher.  He is going to be a good one.  Watch a strikeout of his HERE.

8) Will Stewart.  Ext. Spring.  Will finished strong as a one inning lefty.  He won’t stay in Ext Spring long with his stuff.  Watch two of his strikeout HERE to end the minor league camp.

In the next blog I will talk about my most memorable moments from this year’s minor league camp.

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show. This is what this blog is mostly all about. To read more, click here: https://baseballross.wordpress.com/2012/02/05/how-i-got-started-in-baseball/
