Clearwater Threshers middle infielder Grenny Cumana has played ten games in June.
What a June it has been for him so far!
In his first game of the month on June 2nd, Grenny hit a walk-off home run. Then he ended the first half of the month Thursday night at Spectrum Field going 4 for 4 with a walk, two runs scored, a stolen base and started a great double play in a Threshers 6-2 must win over Lakeland.
Watch the walk off home run from the June 2nd game and Grenny’s four hits and stolen base from Thursday night’s game HERE. Note how Grenny hit the ball to all fields!
It’s been an amazing first half of the month for Cumana. For June so far, he is hitting .359 going 14 for 39. As recently as May 17th he was hitting .244. For the season he is now hitting .304.
Grenny leads the Threshers in stolen bases with 11, including three this month.
He has played strong defense between second and shortstop. He has been charged with only one error at each position this season and is fielding at a .987 percent at short and .990 at second, both career highs.
Right before our eyes Grenny has developed into a five-tool major league talent. He has shown he can do it all by hitting, hitting with power, running, throwing and fielding just in time to keep the Threshers in a first place tie with Tampa in the Florida State League’s Northern Division as the first half race goes down to the wire.
The first half ends after a three game series with Bradenton starting with two games on Monday and Tuesday nights at Spectrum Field and ending with one game on Wednesday night in Bradenton.
