If it’s Sunday, it must be another game winning home run for Clearwater Threshers catcher Henri “The Hero” Lartigue.
Last Sunday, it was a Lartigue tape measure, walk-off home run to right at Spectrum Field in a 6-5 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays. That homer went over the three barriers you need to clear to get it completely out of the park!
This Sunday it was his two-run homer that landed on the berm just over the right field wall at Spectrum Field in the third inning that was enough for a 2-0 win over the St. Lucie Mets. Watch HERE. Note the little kid picking up the home run ball and raising it in celebration.
For Henri it was his fifth homer of the season. He is hitting .394 in his last ten games.
In addition to Lartigue, it was the pitching of the Threshers that was important for the win. Four pitchers, three of them just called up from Lakewood over the last two weeks, combined to pitched a five-hit shutout.
In the first two innings, Clearwater’s starter, Ramon Rosso, struck out four of the first five batters he faced in his FSL debut, watch HERE. He struck out nine over six shutout innings to get the win. Kyle Dohy came on with the bases loaded in the ninth and one out to get a pop out to short and a game ending strikeout for his first FSL save. Watch HERE.
Clearwater’s 2-0 win broke a three game losing streak after a 6-0 start in the second half of the FSL season.
