If It’s Sunday, It Must Be RBI Time For Henri Lartigue and Time For Another Mickey Moniak Home Run

What a tag team Henri Lartigue and Mickey Moniak made Sunday against the Charlotte Stone Crabs!. Lartigue would drive in the first two Thresher runs on singles in third and after a double by Luke Williams in the fifth inning, watch HERE.  Up next in the fifth inning, Moniak would finish off the Stone Crabs with a two-run homer to put the Threshers up 4-3 on the way to a 8-3 win. Watch HERE.

Mickey Moniak squares up a home run

For Lartigue, driving in runs is nothing special on Sunday afternoons.  In the last three Sunday games he is now 7 for 12 with two homers and seven RBIs.

Hitting homers is something special for Moniak but not on Sundays . His long ball was his second this season.  His first homer was on a Sunday back on June 3rd.  His Sunday homer yesterday was only Mickey’s eight in his three years professional career.  I have a feeling many more long balls are shortly to come!

Lartigue and Moniak provided all the runs the Thresher would need in the game but Henri also added a tack on RBI later in the game as he went 4 for 5 with 3 RBIs..

The Threshers also received solid pitching from soft tosser Ramon Rosso in his second start since his call-up from Lakewood.  He went five innings to get the win but rarely hit 90 mph or above on the scoreboard speed reader.  Watch a strikeout HERE

Coming on in relief, Jakob Hernandez gave up one run in two innings of work, striking out four, watch a strikeout HERE.  Kyle Dohy finished off the Stone Crabs with two shutout innings with his off speed stuff and a 95 mph fastball to strike out three for the save., Watch final strikeout HERE.

The win ended a three-game Threshers losing streak and kept them in the hunt for the lead in the Northern Division of the Florida State League.  They now trail both the Lakeland Flying Tigers and the Dunedin Blue Jays by one-half game in the battle for a final play-off berth.  The Threshers start a four game series with the Blue Jays in Dunedin on Monday night.

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show. This is what this blog is mostly all about. To read more, click here: https://baseballross.wordpress.com/2012/02/05/how-i-got-started-in-baseball/
