Pitching Ace Spencer Howard Leads The Lakewood BlueClaws Into the SAL Finals

Lakewood’s First Energy Park could be a “rockin” place on Thursday night when Game Three of the SAL playoff is played there.  It will be the first chance Lakewood would have to win the best-of-five Finals against Lexington.

The BlueClaws Spencer Howard, in his last start on Friday night, did all he could to get them into the Finals . He earned the win by pitching a 1-0, nine inning, 103 pitch, no-hitter against Kannapolis to sweep the Northern Division semi-final best-of-three series, 2-0. Read HERE.

Howard is having a second half of the season that legends are made of.  In his last ten starts, he has gone 6-1 with a 1.57 ERA in 57.1 innings striking out 76.

If the BlueClaws can sweep the Monday and Tuesday games in Lexington Ky. they would only need to win one game in Lakewood. They return home for games on Thursday or, if needed, Friday and Saturday night games for the Sally League Championship. If Howard can continue to dominate with his mid-high 90’s fastball and continues to develop his breaking pitch, he should have no problems, if he gets the chance to start. Read HERE.

Howard is now listed to start in Game 4 on Friday, if needed.
