Lakewood Wins Game One in Dramatic Fashion, 6-5, Over Lexington In The SAL Championship Series

What a game!  The BlueClaws laid low for eight innings letting the Lexington Legends get out to 5-0 lead in the first game of the SAL best-0f-five Championship Series. Then they exploded for five hits in a row to start the ninth including three back to back to back home runs which tied the game at 5-5 in the ninth inning. Read HERE.

After two singles, Rodolfo Duran hit a long homer to center which the Lexington play-by-play voice said traveled 440 ft. to make the score 5-3.  Jhailyn Ortiz was up next an hit a homer that just cleared the wall in right and bounced back on to the field to make it 5-4.  Nick Maton lined a no-doubt-about it line drive homer to right to tie the score at 5-5 in the t0p of the ninth. Connor Brogdon came on and pitched two shutout innings in the ninth and tenth innings. Then in the top of the eleventh, Madison Stokes lined a single to center to score Duran who had singled to open the inning.  A key play in the inning was the sacrifice bunt by Ortiz moving Duran into position to score the winning run. Zach Warren pitched a gem in the eleventh for the win. Read Here.

The BlueClaws now go for a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series Tuesday night in Lexington Ky. Kyle Young gets the start to keep the BlueClaws in a position to win the Series when they return to Lakewood Thursday night.
