Wrapping Up the 2018 Clearwater Threshers Season Would Not Be Complete Without Mentioning “Mr. Sunday” Henri Lartigue

The Clearwater Threshers have published  excellent summaries of the 2018 regular and post seasons. Read HERE and HERE.  It was a good season for us fans with players advancing to AA and the team making playoffs etc.  However, one of our favorite players was not mentioned, Mr. Sunday himself, catcher/DH Henri Lartigue.

Henri and Edgar Cabral split the catching duties this season but it was Henri who made us look forward going to the hot, humid, Sunday 1:00 o’clock games at Spectrum Field. He had several amazing Sunday afternoon games this season while we sought cover in the shade underneath the overhang of the second level just to survive!

Henri Lartigue gets the “Powerade Bath” after hitting a Sunday walk-off home run

Henri was Mr. Sunday.  He caught seven Sunday home games during the season and he went 12 for 24, scoring six runs and driving in eight runs in those games. The Threshers had a 6-1 record in them, losing only the last Sunday home game in August which Henri was the catcher.  It was his only home Sunday game he did not get a hit.

What was special is that in back-to-back Sunday games during the end of June and the beginning of July, Henri did something special.  He hit a two-run, walk-off home run in the ninth in the first one, watch HERE.  The next Sunday he hit a two-run homer in the third inning that held up for a 2-0 win, watch HERE.

We were surprised to read that Lartigue did not get an invite to the Arizona Fall League just on his exploits on Sunday afternoons alone.  Who are we to argue with the experts in the Phillis Front Office but Henri Lartigue play in the 2018 season, especially on Sunday afternoons at Spectrum Field, will never be forgotten by us!
