Two young Phillies continue to develop into top teenage prospects while playing for the Adelaide Bite in the Australian Baseball League. In Thursday’s game, Curtis Mead went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs, while Mitch Edwards went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs in a 13-7 win.
The weather may be hot “down under” but the bats of Mead and Edwards have been even hotter. Over the last ten games, Mead has now hit .351, by going 13 for 37 with 2 home runs including a grand slam, has scored 7 runs and driven in 13 runs. During the same period Edwards has hit .395 by going 15 for 38 with 8 runs scored and 6 RBIs.
After playing most of the season at second base, the 18-year-old Mead has played at shortstop in his last three games. He made a major league play on a ball hit up the middle to get the runner at first base, watch HERE.
Catcher Mitch Edwards and middle infielder Curtis Mead are two Phillies prospects to closely follow in the 2019 season.
