Dalton Guthrie Leads the Clearwater Threshers to a 13-1 Win In FSL Action

Dalton Guthrie just joined the Clearwater Threshers from extended spring training for only his third game of the season. He was one of the key hitters who helped lead the team to a 13-1 thrashing of the Florida Fire Frogs, Wednesday afternoon, at Spectrum Field.

Guthrie went 3 for 4 and was hit by a pitch in his five plate appearances. He had an RBI single, a double and a bases empty home run in the game. Watch his long home run which landed on the berm in left center, HERE.

Guthrie, who was at third base in the game, has played almost an equal amount of games at third, short and second in just over 100 games in his Phillies minor league career.  He was drafted out of the University of Florida in the sixth round of the 2017 Draft.

The Threshers snapped out of a batting slump with the 13 runs on 16 hits in the game. They had scored only four runs combined in the previous three games. Guthrie had the only home run of seven Clearwater extra base hits in the game.

Starter Damon Jones continued his strong pitching allowing only one run for an ERA of 0.96 after four starts. He was pulled with a pitch count of 91 after 4.2 innings.  He six strikeouts gave him 29 in 18.2 innings for third most strikeouts in the FSL. The Threshers move to 8-12 on the season tying them with the Tampa Tarpons for fourth place in the FSL North. They take the short trip to George Steinbrenner Stadium in Tampa to begin a four game set starting tonight.
