Phillies Prospects Hendrickson, Tols and Wingrove Come Up Big In Weekend Australian Baseball League Action

The Phillies just might get several Australians in the lineup over the next few years if this weekend is any indication.  Not since I watched on TV Brad Harman hit a line drive gap double in Pittsburgh back in 2008, has an Australian played in a Phillies uniform. But after this weekend “down under” that might change!

Lefty Josh Hendrickson, a 6’4″, 2019, 38th round Phillies draft pick, pitched a five-inning, no-hitter striking out 10 for Perth. He allowed only a first inning, two-out, walk to get the 7-3 win on Sunday. Read HERE.

Josh Tols pitching for Clearwater

On Saturday, another lefty starter Josh Tols retired the last ten batters he faced as he got stronger pitching five innings in a 1-0 loss for Melbourne. Read HERE.

In Saturday’s game, Adelaide’s first baseman Rix Wingrove went 4 for 4 with 3 RBIs. He now leads the team in RBIs with 14 in 16 games. Read HERE.

Watch below Hendrickson getting a called third strike in a Fall Instructs game and Tols pitching in relief for Clearwater in 2018.

The Phillies keep looking for left-handed starters. They just might have two from Australia!
