Two of the Best Teenagers In Baseball Are Phillies Prospects Logan O’Hoppe and Rixon Wingrove, But Not For Long!

If the Australian Baseball League Championship Series goes the full three games, Adelaide Giant’s catcher Logan O’Hoppe will no longer be one of the best young teenage prospects in baseball. He turns 20-years old on Sunday when the final game is scheduled. Right now, he and Rixon Wingrove, who will not turn 20 until May, are two of the best teenage players in baseball.

O’Hoppe has had a strong season in the ABL hitting .258 (.872 OPS) with five homers and 18 RBIs in 89 at bats in the regular season. He went 3 for 7 in the semi-final round. Wingrove’s strength has been hitting with runners in scoring position. With RISP, he hit .286 (.879 OPS) with two homers and 20 RBIs in the regular season. He had two big RBI singles in semi-final round driving in three runs. A left-handed bat, both of his hits were against left handed pitching. Read more about Wingrove, HERE.

The first game of the best of three Championship round will take place in Melbourne. The game starts at 3:00 A.M. Friday morning for those of us in the Eastern time zone. See HERE and HERE. It remains to be seen if O’Hoppe will be the Giants starting catcher. He entered Game 1 of the semi-final round as a pinch-hitter for the DH. He caught both of  the Adelaide wins in Games 2 and 3.

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show. This is what this blog is mostly all about. To read more, click here: https://baseballross.wordpress.com/2012/02/05/how-i-got-started-in-baseball/
