Nick Maton with a two-run double and Darick Hall with triple drove-in three of the six Phillies runs in the big eight inning in yesterday’s game against the Tigers. They received little notice as the Phillies media was all consumed with the pitching of the great Nick Pivetta.
All Maton did last season with the Clearwater Threshers was hit over .300 with runners in scoring position. In yesterday’s game his two-run double gave the Phillies a 6-5 lead.
Darick Hall is always a tough out with RISP. His triple was described as a long RBI blast to center which would have gone out it it were not for the wind blowing in at 11 mph from center according to game reports. Still his triple drove in the Phillies eight run in the 8-8 tie game.
In total the Phillies batter’s left 20 runners on base after they were at bat in the game. Maton and Hall left no one on base after they hit their double and triple. Let’s hope we see more of them as Grapefruit League games continue. They are two of the best MLB prospects they have!
