Are You Ready For Spencer Howard in the MLB? Yes!

Finally, Spencer Howard is going to get a chance to pitch in the Show. Sunday, August 9th will be a date that will live forever in Phillies lore. It will be the date that Howard makes his major league debut against the Atlanta Braves in a big doubleheader.

Howard has been fine-tuning his pitching craft the last several weeks with the Phillies Taxi Squad at East Allentown’s Coca-Cola Park, just waiting for the call.  Last season, he made 22 starts combined in the minors and Fall Ball and did not allow an earned run in 12 of those starts.

In 2018, we watched him on MiLB-TV pitch a nine-inning no-hitter in the SAL playoffs for Lakewood and then a five inning no-hitter in Clearwater last season with us in our customary front row seats at Spectrum Field. Then, he finish up the 2019 minor league season with a seven inning,  12 strikeout performance allowing only one run in the Eastern League playoff game for Reading. He is no doubt a “big game” pitcher and the best they have down on the farm!

Watch Howard throw all his pitch types in a game during the Arizona Fall League last season, HERE.

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show. This is what this blog is mostly all about. To read more, click here: https://baseballross.wordpress.com/2012/02/05/how-i-got-started-in-baseball/
