Can Darick Hall Work His Way On To The Phillies Opening Day Roster?

The Phillies two left handed bats off the bench are down with injuries. Brad Miller (oblique) and reserve outfielder Matt Joyce (hamstring) have not been playing in recent games.

All of the sudden, left handed power bat Darick Hall started in Wednesday’s game.  It was his first start in Grapefruit League action after coming in as a late inning replacement in several games at first base. He has seen some action in offseason ball in Mexico in 2020 and a brief appearance in Grapefruit League action this season in the corner outfield positions.

Darick has started to hit with a home run in Sunday’s game against the Pirates in Bradenton. In the Tigers’ game yesterday, he blasted two hard hit doubles to go 3 for 8 in his most recent at bats.

Hall has been in the Phillies organization since 2016. Between Reading in 2019 and Los Mochis last Fall, he hit 24 homers and drove in 87 runs in a combined 153 games.

If Miller and Joyce are not ready on opening day, nothing would be better than having a power bat such as Darick Hall coming up as a pinch hitter likely for the pitcher in a close and late Phillies game!

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show. This is what this blog is mostly all about. To read more, click here: https://baseballross.wordpress.com/2012/02/05/how-i-got-started-in-baseball/
