Nothing Beats Grand Slams In The Last Inning For the Win

Friday night in the battle for Pinellas County MLB baseball supremacy, we were there for the dramatic 9-7, 12 inning win by the Tampa Bay Rays over our Toronto/Dunedin Blue Jays.

It was a back and forth game with the wind blowing out at TD Bank Ballpark in Dunedin. The Jays broke out to an early lead but Rays catcher Francisco Mejia’s grand slam home run was the difference in the top of the 12th inning.

The ball was flying out of the Ballpark. The Rays hit four homers and the Blue Jays went deep three times in the game.

This was our ninth big league game we have watched this season in Dunedin and it was the best of a series of great games. We watch Jays games against the Angels, Yankees, Braves, Nationals, Phillies, Red Sox and Rays.

Putting runners on second base to start each extra innings is an exciting addition. Amazingly, this was our second grand slam which we have watched this month which decided a game in extra innings.

In the second game of the Clearwater Threshers season back on May 5th, we watched the Threshers D.J. Stewart hit a walk-off grand slam in a win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers by an 13-11 score.

Nothing beats watching a winning grand slam in extra innings for excitement.

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show. This is what this blog is mostly all about. To read more, click here: https://baseballross.wordpress.com/2012/02/05/how-i-got-started-in-baseball/
