Vito Friscia Makes His Bid for Phillies Prospect Status

We have to apologize to Jersey Shore BlueClaws first baseman catcher Vito Friscia. We overlooked him in a previous blog which listed several Phillies prospects who are hot with the bat or pitching.

Vito hit in his 10th straight game last night-going 3 for 4 with his third homer of the season. His homer last night was off a left-handed pitcher. He is hitting them at a .345 average for the season.

Friscia is accustomed to being overlooked. He was a 40th and last round pick, 1,200th pick overall, by the Phillies in 2019. The 2021 Draft will have only 20 rounds.

He is having a July to remember hitting. He is 12 for 27 for a .444 average and a 1.196 OPS in his first nine games of the month.

We watched him homer last night on MiLB-TV. The BlueClaws finish up their series with the Wilmington Blue Rocks today at 1:05 PM.

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show. This is what this blog is mostly all about. To read more, click here:

  1. Romus says:

As the saying goes….the Phillies are playing with house money with the 24-year old 40th round draft pick Vito.
I say push him up the ladder ..Reading later this month sometime, and then LHV to start 2022….force-feed him and see how he does.
Right now he is older than most in Hi-A, so he should be challenged.
