We Spent a Day and Night Following the Phillies Organization-From a Kid named Alexeis Azuaje to Draftee Andrew Baker to Can’t-Miss Prospects Logan O’Hoppe and Bryson Stott

It’s not easy being a Phillies fan. After last night it looks like a lock that they will miss the playoffs for the tenth straight year so we have shifted out focus back to the Phillies Farm.

Yesterday, our day started out following on Gameday, the FCL game starring Alexeis Azuaje. All the 19 year-old kid did was to go 3 for 3 with a double and a homer as the FCL Phillies downed the FCL Tigers.

Azuaje is one of the Phillies top second base prospects. Last night, we watched the Phillies Low A second baseman, Luis Garcia, commit three errors for Clearwater. He has played about twice as much at shortstop compared to second base.

On the other hand, Garcia was on fire with the bat in the game going 3 for 5 with a RBI triple and single. He is hitting .274 with an .822 OPS in August.

At the Threshers game, we also watched Andrew Baker make his first start. He was a 2021 11th round Phillies draft pick. Though he did give up a two-run homer, it was nice watching his fastball at 95-97 mph and a slider. He used those pitches in striking out three of the Yankees farmhands in two innings.

In between, we were following the Reading Phillies game on our devices. There, we followed Logan O’Hoppe making his AA debut behind the plate going 2 for 4 and Bryson Stott lining a home run over the right field wall in the ninth inning in Portland, Maine.

While driving home after the Threshers 9-4 loss, Baseball Betsy informed me that our beloved Phillies went down yet again for their 10th loss in their last 14 games. All I could say with now certainly is that will make it the Phillies 10th season of not making the playoffs.

Isn’t it about time that the likes of O’Hoppe and Stott get a chance in September to hit and homer in Philadelphia rather doing it as they are now in Portland Maine?

About Baseball Ross

I have been a faithful Phillies follower all my life. Today I am most intrigued by those players in the minor league system who work every day of the year to make it to the Show. This is what this blog is mostly all about. To read more, click here: https://baseballross.wordpress.com/2012/02/05/how-i-got-started-in-baseball/
